Abyss is one of the last supporting roles that Han So-hee took on before getting her big break in the JTBC series, The World of the Married. In this fantasy K-drama, Cha Min is brought back to life with an entirely new appearance and a second chance at life. Alongside his childhood crush Gu Se-yeon, who similarly died and is revived with a new face, Abyss mixes laugh-out-loud comedy with the thrills of a crime drama as the duo attempts to solve Se-yeon's murder. Han So-hee plays the role of Jang Hee-jin, the mysterious fiancée of Cha Min.

Despite its all-star cast, Abyss falls short. Its storyline stretches things beyond the imagination even for K-dramas, leaving little room for its characters to develop beyond clichés. Yet, Han So-hee still gives a brilliant performance. She works with the material to show the layers of intrigue behind Hee-jin, who has a much darker past than first appears. Although not as memorable as her other K-drama roles, Abyss demonstrates how Han So-hee can thrive when portraying characters with complex backstories.

One of Han So-hee's most memorable supporting roles is in 2018's 100 Days My Prince. In it, she plays the character, Kim So-hye. 100 Days My Prince is a historical K-drama that follows a crown prince who accidentally falls off a cliff and loses his memory for 100 days. At that time, he meets the young woman at the head of Joseon's first detective agency. In 100 Days My Prince, Han So-hee's character is the crown prince's wife, who enters into a relationship with her father's hired killer.

100 Days My Prince once again demonstrates how well Han So-hee can delve into complex characters. So-hye acts as a puppet for her father but longs for her lover, all of which is carefully displayed by the subtleties of Han's dramatic performance. Her on-screen chemistry with Kim Jae-young is also spectacular. The two actors give their characters unique nuances and time to blossom, and in doing so, Han So-hee and Kim Jae-young create a beautifully bittersweet romance that defies the expectations of a second-lead K-drama couple.

Although Soundtrack #1 is not mind-blowing in terms of its friends-to-lovers K-drama romance or its plot, it is still a sweet series that showcases So-hee's ability to play a likable romantic interest. It's refreshing to see Han So-hee move away from darker roles to try another famed K-drama genre. Though her performance doesn't quite live up to some of the morally ambiguous characters that made her famous, Han So-hee's portrayal of Eun-soo is a commendable addition to her career.

Flashforward to 2023 and Han So-hee has found her place as a certifiable K-drama lead in Gyeongseong Creature. The first season of the historical sci-fi K-drama takes place in 1945 in Gyeongseong, now known as Seoul, during the Japanese occupation of Korea. Two young adults face off against a strange creature to survive. Han So-hee plays Yoon Chae-ok, the female lead who is a specialist in finding missing people. In the second season, she takes on the character of the same name but finds herself in modern-day Seoul rather than in the Joseon era.

With such a unique premise, Gyeongseong Creature is a testament to Han So-hee's success in the K-drama world. Chae-ok is a graceful and competent sleuth and Han So-hee's well-directed restraint makes her character an enticing enigma. However, Gyeongseong Creature is not without its flaws. The romance between Han So-hee and Park Seo-joon's K-drama couple feels rushed and lacks the anticipation of other great K-drama romances. Despite this, Han So-hee gives another compelling performance, but it doesn't have the same impact as some of her more impressive roles.

In 2021, Han So-hee took a role in the romantic K-drama, Nevertheless. Though the two avoid love and relationships at all costs, their undeniable connection makes it hard for them to stay away from each other. This concept allows Nevertheless to up the ante as a steamy K-drama and portray a hot yet somewhat toxic relationship, with its two big names being an insatiable fixture at the heart of the series.

Nevertheless is an extremely popular K-drama, with Han So-hee's performance as Yoo Na-bi playing a part in its success. Han So-hee's on-screen chemistry with Song Kang is magnetic but gives an uneasy tone with the will-they-won't-they nature of their relationship. Like many of Han's former characters, Na-bi is far from perfect and the actress shines when showcasing the different depths of Na-bi's flawed but decidedly youthful view of the world. With this in mind, it's easy to see how Nevertheless is one of Han So-hee's standout performances in her career so far.
